PB&J Smoothie (Gluten-Free, Vegan / Plant-Based)

PB&J Smoothie

The PB&J Smoothie merges nostalgia and nutrition into one creamy, delicious treat!

I have a confession to make: I’m not really much of a smoothie person. I see lovely pictures in the blogosphere of smoothies placed in various creative vessels and poised on a deck rail or buried in snow. I’ve tried many smoothies over the years but none have really blown my socks off. They either contain way to much sugar to be healthy or a boatload of dairy. Or they mix veggies in with fruit which I haven’t been able to bring myself around to enjoying. So when I decided to kick up my “go-to” smoothie one day–creating this loveliness–I decided I had to share it with you! This PB&J Smoothie has the yummy, creaminess of the smoothies that usually boast too much sugar and contain dairy, and the plant-based protein and nutrients of the veggie-fruit combos. An added plus are the feelings of nostalgia and comforts of home often associated with the childhood staple and classic: the peanut butter and jelly sandwich! In my house we would often get crazy and add some banana slices to the oozing delightfulness sandwiched between those two slices of bread. So naturally that is in the mix of the smoothie too. Best of all this it is just as easy to make as the sandwich itself! Pull out your blender, take your ripe frozen banana and break it into chunks, add it to the blender with protein powder, frozen berries, peanut butter, and nut milk. Mmm, mmm good! Well, that’s a different childhood memory, but I think you know what I mean. *wink*
